2011 – Neutrophil activity investigated in dust mite-related asthma

Clinical investigations indicate that neutrophils may play an important role in pathogenesis of asthma. To further this research scientists gathered evidence of neutrophil reactive oxygen species (ROS) from house dust mite sensitized asthmatics and non-asthmatics. Results suggested that HDM-allergen exposure may result in greater production of ROS in asthmatics and may be involved in the development of asthma.
