HouseDustMite.com is the creation of the Nockles family. Nell Nockles has been actively researching the impact of house dust mite allergens for over twelve years. An important part of managing allergy is education. Once you know your triggers, you will be in a better position to take steps to reduce symptoms.

Dealing with your Allergy

The general public has become more aware of the allergy link to mites. As shown by the large number of visitors to HouseDustMite.com, people are now seeking positive and practical methods of making their home and office healthier.

We believe that active and informed allergen reduction, combined with properly used medication, is the responsible way to approach allergic asthma, rhinitis and eczema.

Ongoing Research

Nell Nockles’ research at the British Library has contributed to the information posted on HouseDustMite.com. She intends to continue to use this website to inform the public about advances in scientific research in allergy. The site provides research referencing to members of the public or professionals who wish to further their study.

Nell, a life long asthma and hay fever sufferer, began her research following a dramatic improvement in her health just by eliminating house dust mites from her sleeping environment. Nell was so amazed that such a simple, relatively unknown, remedy reversed years of suffering that she felt compelled to find out more and spread the good news.

Finding a lack of easily accessible information about indoor allergens, especially from house dust mites, Nell and her son Edward decided to set up this website to help people understand their allergy triggers.

The decision to do this was endorsed by some very positive results from a NHS funded study set up by the Nockles family, where an educational programme and special ‘anti-mite’ bed were used to relieve asthma symptoms in children. In 1999, the Nockles family’s ‘Pilgrim Bed’ and its educational programme were given ‘Millennium Product’ status by the British Design Council.

Nell’s work is endorsed by several doctors and she recently joined the Royal Society of Medicine.
